Actor Tom Cruise’s reason for not attending the Academy Awards is drawing attention.

The Academy Awards ceremony was held on the morning of the 13th (Korea Standard Time) at the Dolby Theater in LA, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. According to Variety on the 14th (local time), insiders speculated that Tom Cruise was absent because he was worried about the monologue of host Jimmy Kimmel.

Director Jude Apertow helped Jimmy Kimmel write a joke about Tom Cruise. Jude Apertow once joked about Tom Cruise at the DGA Awards. He disparaged Tom Cruise’s short height at the time, and also shot his religion, saying, “Tom Cruise’s stunt feels like a Scientology commercial.”

However, Jimmy Kimmel denied that Jude Apertow helped Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue, saying, “I hope that’s not why Tom Cruise didn’t come to the Academy Awards.”

“There was a monologue mentioning Tom Cruise for about three minutes, and it was about praising Tom Cruise for his contribution to the revival of the film industry with ‘Top Gun: Maverick,'” producer Jimmy Kimmel Live told Variety. We were disappointed when we learned a few days before the awards ceremony that he was not present. Jimmy Kimmel loved him and wanted to congratulate him.

The media also reported that Tom Cruise did not attend the Academy Awards because of his ex-wife Nicole Kidman. However, an insider told the Daily Mail that Tom Cruise was absent from the Academy Awards because of the filming schedule for the movie ‘Mission Impossible 8’.

Tom Cruise married Nicole Kidman in 1990, but divorced her in 2001. Scientology is known to be the major cause of divorce. Tom Cruise married actor Katie Holmes in 2006 and divorced in 2012. They have a 16-year-old daughter, Suri.
