The Los Angeles Lakers of the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) beat the New Orleans Pelicans to win their first consecutive victory after losing five consecutive games since the opening.
The LA Lakers won a 120-117 victory after extra time in an NBA regular league game against New Orleans at Crypto Dotcom Arena in Los Angeles, California, on the 3rd. With the victory, the Lakers recorded their first consecutive victory.
The home side of the Lakers shone with Ronnie Walker IV’s performance, scoring 28 points with five of his six 3-pointer attempts. King LeBron James and Anthony Davis scored 20 points and scored 10 and 16 rebounds, respectively, to achieve a double-double. Russell Westbrook, who recovered from the injury, also did his part by scoring 15 points.
For New Orleans, Zion Williamson scored 27 points. CJ McCallum also scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, close to triple-double. He played on an equal footing with the Lakers throughout the game, but eventually knelt down after extra time.
The game was revived by Matt Ryan’s buzzer beater, which broke just before the end of the fourth quarter. The Lakers were dragged by New Orleans by three points until the end of the fourth quarter. Williamson of New Orleans, who woke up, scored 14 points in the fourth quarter alone. However, just before regular time, Ryan succeeded in a thrilling buzzer-beater and led the game to extra time.
In the ensuing extra time, New Orleans brought the atmosphere with Larry Nance Jr. making a dunk. But the LA Lakers didn’t give up either. Two minutes before the end of extra time, Davis tipped in the ball that LeBron missed. Since then, LeBron has scored, and the game has been completely tilted. McCallum’s three-point attempt failed in the ensuing New Orleans attack, eventually leading the Lakers to a 120-117 victory.
