MC Ding Dong, who ran away after drunk driving, was sentenced to three years in prison
Prosecutors have demanded a three-year prison term for MC Ding-dong (real name Heo Yong-woon), who was accused of hitting a police car and assaulting a police officer when he was caught in a drunk driving crackdown.
At 11 a.m. on the 7th, the Seoul Northern District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 13 (Chief Judge Oh Kwon-chul) held a trial date for MC Ding-dong, who was arrested and indicted on charges of obstructing the execution of special official duties.
On the same day, the prosecution demanded a three-year prison term for MC Ding-dong.
In his final statement, MC Ding-dong said, “It’s useless to regret, and I came here with one foolish act. “I told my twin sons who entered elementary school to ‘live confidently and faithful to the basics,’ but I didn’t live fair, such as driving under the influence of alcohol and running away,” he said.
“I didn’t know that I was scared of the world. I will keep this moment in my heart and never act foolish again. I was truly wrong,” he added.
MC Ding-dong’s lawyer said, “MC Ding-dong not only reached an agreement with the affected police officer, but also is not as serious as other cases of obstruction of justice.” Since I am a broadcaster, please take into account the fact that I committed the crime because I was afraid that if I committed a drunk driving crime, all my means of living would be deprived.”
Earlier, MC Ding-dong was put on trial on February 17 for fleeing near Hawolgok-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, without responding to the police’s request for a drinking crackdown. In addition, MC Ding-dong is accused of hitting a police car during the escape and injuring a police officer who attempted to take a sobriety test.
The police arrested MC Ding-dong at 2 a.m. the next day, and a breathalyzer test found that the blood alcohol concentration in MC Ding-dong was more than 0.08% of the license cancellation level
